2012年-爱丁堡艺术学院申请人数呈全面上升趋势

   根据爱丁堡大学招生部门的数据统计，自2011年爱丁堡艺术学院（UCAS）与爱丁堡大学合并后，爱丁堡艺术学院在英国及全球申请者中的影响力得到了更进一步的提升，截止2012年1月30日，爱丁堡艺术学院2012年秋季入学的本科申请人数呈全面上升趋势，并创下了历史新高。
   数据显示，整个2012年秋季本科入学的申请人数相比2011年上升了15%，其中欧盟和海外的申请人数增加最大，分别比2011年上升了24%和33%，申请人数唯一降低的地区是北爱尔兰，所有申请人中，苏格兰本地申请者占了15%，英格兰和威尔士的申请者分别占23%和3%。
   作为TIMES英国排名第15和QS世界排名第20的著名高等学府，爱丁堡大学除了仍然为苏格兰本地学生提供免费的教育外，还为来自英格兰、威尔士及北爱尔兰的低收入家庭的申请人提供每年7000英镑的助学金，同时他们还有资格申请高达5000英镑奖学金。
   引用爱丁堡大学负责规划、资源和政策研究的高级副校长Nigel Brown教授的话说：The UCAS application figures are very encouraging and highlight Edinburgh's desirability as a place to study. In a competitive environment with big changes in student funding, the levels of interest in the University as a whole reflect its quality and reputation.

i might proceed to the International Relations and Law BA undergraduate degree of Edinburgh Uni this year. Considering that i will often go to the gym andsport centre, together with money concern, would you please advise me which hall should i look for?

I know that New Arthur Place and Darroch Court could suit me quite well. But I am not sure about the accommodation life there. I probably will go for self-catered shared room. Could you give me some iinfo regarding the social life and environment of these two halls? or may you recommend me some others?
