学生会代表被邀请去参加奥巴马在英演讲

感谢美国大使馆(United States Embassy)的邀请，埃塞克斯大学(University of Essex)的学生会(Students’ Union)副主席(Vice President) Alex Reily, 应邀出席了奥巴马(President Barack Obama)在英国 国会大厦(Houses of Parliament)的演讲。

Alex Reily曾经是English Literature的毕业生，现在是学生会的全职的副主席。Alex是参加奥巴马演讲的中的唯一三个英国学生代表之一。

Alex写过一篇由美国大使馆发起的关于加强与Afghanistan大学的交流的报告，获得了Dr Tom Scotto以及大使馆的一致认可。

奥巴马演讲结束后，Alex说，“It was an absolutely fantastic experience to attend the first ever speech by a US President in Westminster Hall. President Barack Obama is a remarkable orator who expressed himself with remarkable gravitas. He expressed a need to re-double the investments our nations put into scientific research and education, in order to remain leaders in a changing economy, whilst also demonstrating humility in the wish to improve the living standards and freedom of all peoples around the world.”

John Bercow MP(埃塞克斯大学Government and Honorary 的校友)送上欢迎的致词。Alex也被邀请去参加了随后的宴会。
