The International Advice Service operates a Meet & Greet service for NEW non-EU international students.
The service operates from Birmingham International Airport only.
The use of this service is free of charge and we will only travel to Birmingham City University Halls of Residence. If you are staying in private accommodation you are able to use the Meet and Greet Service, however, we will only take you to the closest Birmingham City University Halls of Residence. Once there you will need to arrange your own transport to travel on to your private accommodation.

In order to apply for the Meet and Greet Service please complete the Registration Form
Once you have fully completed and submitted the main registration form a member of our Meet and Greet team will check your travel information. We will then send you an email within five working days to verify your details and confirm your pick up time.
Please make sure that you enter your email address correctly as we will use this to send you important information about the Meet & Greet service.
We recommend that you book your flight through to Birmingham International Airport to use our Meet and Greet Service as it will be much easier than travelling on to Birmingham by train or coach from another airport. If for any reason you cannot fly to Birmingham International Airport, there is a good National Express Airport coach service between UK airports.

How to get to Birmingham
If you do not wish to be met when you arrive in Birmingham, you can reach your accommodation quite easily by train, bus or taxi. Details of the cost and travel times from the main UK arrival points are given below. Please note that all figures are approximate.  Don’t forget to carry some small denomination notes and coins for use when travelling on public transport.
You must still complete the Meet and Greet section of the registration form to tell us that you will not be using the service.
Transport information

Birmingham is the UK’s second largest city and like most other cities in the UK you should be aware when travelling and take precauti##被过滤## to ensure your safety.
Increased security has been implemented in all major UK airports and Birmingham International Airport is one of the many airports that do all they can to make sure their passengers are safe from danger.  However, it is still your resp##被过滤##ibility to take care of yourself and your belongings.
Do not bring drugs (apart from those prescribed by a doctor) into the UK.  Also it is illegal to carry any sort of offensive weapon such as knives, CS gas, guns or stun guns in the UK.  If you try to bring any of these into the UK you will be arrested and detained by officials.  Your nearest British C##被过滤##ulate or High Commission will be able to tell you about restricted goods and duty free allowances or you can refer to the Customs and Excise website.
Take care of your possessi##被过滤## and do not leave your suitcase or bags unattended in a public place, including shops and cafes, otherwise it may be stolen or removed for security reas##被过滤##.  Make sure all of your cases and bags are clearly labelled so that they can be identified and forwarded to you if you lose them.
If you need to leave your luggage anywhere, make sure you leave it at an official ‘Left Luggage’ office, which can be found in airports and train stati##被过滤##.  The attendant will give you a receipt to present when collecting your luggage later.
If you are travelling by train or London tube, make sure your luggage is where you can see it and try to sit in a carriage with other people and not alone.
Take care of your passport, tickets and money and make sure they are in a safe place such as an inside pocket, money belt or zipped bag.  We advise against carrying large amounts of cash.  Instead a small amount of cash in lower denomination notes (£5, £10 & £20 notes) together with a credit card or travellers cheques is preferred.
If you are taking a taxi from the airport, make sure it has a Birmingham City Council taxi identification label: these are on the side or back of the taxi.  Always sit in the back of a taxi if you are on your own.  Do not accept lifts from any unknown person inside or outside the terminal.  It is preferred that you use the Birmingham City University Meet and Greet service so that you can be met at the airport and taken safely to your accommodation.
If relatives or friends are meeting you upon your arrival in the UK, make sure that all arrangements are confirmed before you start to travel and ask for a contact number in case you are delayed or cannot find them.
