从2007年11月1号起, 要来英国攻读某些敏感性专业的博士; 研究式硕士或5个特定的授课式硕士的非欧盟学生, 以及要以以上这些形式续签的学生,都必须在申请签证之前先申请"特别专业许可证"(ATAS CERTIFICATE). 如果你申请的专业在所列表单之内, 那么在签证的时候如果没有出示特别专业许可证,那签证将不予考虑. 该证办理不收费, 并将在10个工作日之内完成.

Subjects covered by the Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS)


All subject areas studied at UK Universities and Higher Education
Instituti##被过滤## are identified by a JACS code. Your University will
advise you of the JACS code for the area you wish to research. If you
wish to study subjects with the following JACS codes, you will need an
ATAS certificate.

For example, a student planning to study for a PhD in Mathematical
Modelling (JACS Code G150) would need an ATAS certificate because the
code starts G1. A student planning to study for a PhD in Business and
Commercial Law (JACS code M221), on the other hand, would not need an
ATAS certificate as M2 is not one of the listed codes.

If the exit qualification will be a Doctorate or Masters by Research
(MRes, MPhil etc but not MEng, MPharm, MSci):

Once you have obtained your ATAS certificate you will be able to apply for your student Visa / EC / EoS. Possession of an ATAS certificate does not guarantee you a Visa / EC / EoS, but your application will automatically be refused if you need an ATAS certificate but cannot provide one. We therefore advise you to find out if you need an ATAS certificate by visiting our who needs to apply page before applying for a student Visa / EC / EoS.
