求助申请MPhil/PhD的research proposal的格式

大四在读，想直接申请ＥＣＳ的ＰhＤ，但要求提交research proposal,因为我下学期才开始做毕业设计和论文也没有写过rp,所以发邮件给学校问了一下rp的内容，学校回复说　

＂A research proposal should be a short piece about what topic you wish to study and why．＂

后来，在网上搜了一下，发现rp 包含的内容很多，包括introduction,methodology,hypothesisi,......,要晕了！

　所以想请教xdjm们，research proposal 应该怎么写，特别对是MPhil/PhD的申请者？谢谢！不胜感激！
