[活动专题] 莱斯特的11月 如何才能不让良辰美景虚度?

同学们在莱斯特的生活还习惯吗?


已经有人跟我们抱怨了,因为压力大发际线已经向后了0.01厘米;


也有人说,好想好好练习口语怎么破?


也有人询问关于找工作的小技巧。


……


11月是我们的Make the Most of You Month,你们的烦恼都可以得到解决!


现在请大家准备好瓜,准备好马扎,听我们娓娓道来。



莱大在11月一整个月,每天都有不同的活动,光看活动列表就已经激动得不行!


下面是活动列表,看看我们能不能偶遇吧~


5 November


  • Women in leadership day, 10am-4.30pm, O2 Academy

    This Students' Union event is aimed at women students who want to improve their confidence, find out more about going into academia, or running in elections. (最近世界上的大新闻好多都和女性有关,莱大也一直对于女性的发展很重视,好想来参加这个活动!)

  • Entering the legal sector as a non-law student event, 3-4.30pm, Career Development Seminar Room, David Wilson Library

    Delivered by BPP University, this session is aimed at non-law students looking to enter the legal sector and will help you fit into a changing legal world.

  • Unanima Theatre ensemble: Love. Life. No Sat Nav, 1pm and 4pm, Attenborough Arts Centre

    Unanima Theatre communicates the stories, scenarios and experiences of an integrated cast, of theatre makers and performers with and without a learning disability.





6 November


  • Quidditch, 2-4pm, Victoria Park

    Come and join the Quidditch society for their weekly training. Look for the hoops!

  • Let's Do Leicester swimming, 11am-12noon, Danielle Brown Sports Centre
    Make the most of a mid week de-stress session: have a casual relaxing swim or use the hour work out with some of the SwimFit plans that are on offer.
  • Let's Do Leicester badminton, 2-3pm, Digby Hall

    Social drop-in badminton open to all individuals of all abilities.






7 November


  • What is critical analysis and how can I apply it?, 1-2.30pm, Charles Wilson 401 and 402

    This workshop explores what critical analysis means, how to identify arguments and assumptions, and ways of evaluating reasoning and evidence.






8 November


  • Making a living from craft workshop, 3-4pm, Fielding Johnson LR L67

    Part of CAMEo craft cultures week, this workshop explores aspects of employability in the creative sector and includes a hands-on engagement activity

  • Book group, time TBC, University of Leicester main campus

  • How to do Harvard referencing, 1-3pm, IT room 1, David Wilson library

    This session will cover why we should reference and then how to cite using the Harvard referencing style. (写论文reference太重要了,建议大家都来听一下)






9 November


  • Let's Do Leicester zumba, 7-8pm, Nixon Court Common Room
    Zumba is open to all those that want to making exercise fun and meet new people. No experience is required.
  • Let's Do Leicester swimming, 8.30-9.30pm, Danielle Brown Sports Centre

    Make the most of a mid week de-stress session: have a casual relaxing swim or use the hour work out with some of the SwimFit plans that are on offer.

  • Let's Do Leicester yoga, 7-8pm, Opal Court Common Room

    The practice of yoga helps to co-ordinate the breath, mind and body to encourage balance, both internally and externally and promote feelings of relaxation and ease.




10 November


  • Let's Do Leicester PiYo, 6.30-7.30pm, John Foster Hall

    PiYo combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga.

  • Video games night, 8-10pm, The Village Hub cinema room

    Oadby hall residents: show your skills on Guitar Hero Live. (有对这个活动感兴趣的小伙伴吗?)

  • Attenborough Forum: Faiza Butt, 6.30-8pm, Attenborough Arts Centre

    Join exhibiting artist Faiza Butt and New Art Exchange curator Armindokht Shooshtari for a thought-provoking discussion about contemporary art.






11 November


  • Let's Do Leicester badminton, 12noon-2pm, Charles Wilson

    Social, drop-in badminton open to all individuals of all abilities.

  • Let's Do Leicester MIU fitness class, 7-8pm, John Foster Hall

    Dare to enjoy the sensation of the latest dance styles and hottest new sounds whilst working out your body with the new ‘mash it up’ fitness class on your doorstep.

  • Let's Do Leicester table tennis, 5-6pm, Charles Wilson

    Grab a friend and head to the Charles Wilson Sports Hall for a fun game of table tennis.






12 November


  • Let's Do Leicester dodgeball, 3-4pm, Charles Wilson

    Join our weekly session of dodgeball spiced with some competition spirit and a lot of fun.

  • Brexit and its consequences discussion, 2.30pm-4.30pm, Fielding Johnson council room
    Part of Leicester Law School's 50th anniversary, this event is a Question Time discussion chaired by Professor Robin White, featuring: Professor Sir Alan Dashwood, Ms Jacqueline Minor, Professor Katja Ziegler and Ms Ewa Zelazna. To register your interest, visit our webpages.
  • Let's Do Leicester, volleyball, 5-6pm, Charles Wilson

    A volleyball session is the perfect opportunity for you and your friends to have a good laugh whilst learning or improving your game strategy.





13 November


  • Contact improvisation dance jam, 1-4pm, Attenborough Arts Centre
    The session will be led by a guest dance artist and will look at some basic contact improvisational skill development, leading to an open jam, to put your new skills into practice with other dancers.
  • Let's Do Leicester football, 1-2pm, Roger Bettles Sports Centre

    Challenge your friends to a football match or just come along and improve your dribbling skills.

14 November


  • Getting into film journalism: what an editor looks for, 4-5pm, Attenborough film theatre

    Kieron Corless, Deputy Director of the Sight & Sound Magazine, the international film magazine since 1932, is on campus sharing his insights and advice on how to get into the film journalism. (文艺青年们的活动,欢迎大家多多加入)

  • Let's Do Leicester pilates, 7-8pm, John Foster Hall

    Pilates is an innovative and safe system of mind-body exercise using a floor mat or a variety of equipment.

15 November


  • Students' Union safeguarding and harassment training, 10-11am, Students' Union Training Room (Level -1)

    A comprehensive training session focusing on what safeguarding is and how to recognise potential concerns. Places must be booked beforehand.

  • Let's Do Leicester wheelchair basketball, 6.15-7.45pm, Regent College Sports Hall

    Been inspired by the 2016 Rio Olympics and Paralympics? Why not give wheelchair basketball a go, for as little as £2 per session.

  • How to plan and structure an essay - webinar, 12noon-1pm, online

  • Film screening: The Black Heathcliff, 3-4pm, Attenborough Arts Centre

    A rare public screening of the documentary A Regular Black: The Hidden History of Wuthering Heights, which presents the historical case for arguing that Brontë's Heathcliff was a black man. (深刻的纪录片,可以引发很多思考)

  • Arletty Theatre: Swan Canaries, 7.30-9.10pm, Attenborough Arts Centre

    The extraordinary true story of the Canary Girls of Chilwell, who were caught in the biggest explosion this country has ever known during World War I.





18 November


  • David Wood: The Utterly Inventive World of Roald Dahl, 4.30-5.30pm, Curve
    Part of the Literary Leicester festival, join the Olivier Award-Winning writer David Wood OBE as he talks about Dahl, the master storyteller, and the craft of turning his stories into plays.
  • Postgraduate information fair, 2.30-6pm, University of Leicester main campus

    At the fair, you will have the chance to speak to academics from the subject(s) that interest you, hear from our current postgraduates, and learn more about financing your studies.





19 November


  • An afternoon with Jacqueline Wilson, 2-4pm, Peter Williams lecture theatre

    Jacqueline will read from her new book, Clover Moon which introduces a brand new Victorian heroine - book now to confirm your place.

  • Rings and cufflinks, 10am-3.30pm, Attenborough Arts Centre

    Learn how to make your own pieces using techniques including soldering, sawing, hammering, drilling, doming and filing. Suitable for both beginners and improvers.

  • Colours of Melody presents Desi Touch: Thumri, Tarana and Bandish, 7pm, Attenborough Arts Centre

    A light classical evening of thumri, tarana and bandish, full of natural mood of the raag by Tofail Ahmed.





20 November


  • Let's Do Leicester swimming, 11am-12noon, Danielle Brown Sports Centre

    Have a casual relaxing swim or use the hour work out with some of the SwimFit plans that are on offer.

  • VANT, from 7pm, The Scholar
    The London-based quartet continue a year of impressive accomplishments, including an extensive tour with You Me At Six and three gigs supporting Nothing But Thieves.

    This is a new 1 hour session aiming to support students in communication and chairing effectively in meetings, and resolve conflict constructively.

  • Let's Do Leicester wheelchair basketball, 6.15-7.45pm, Regent College Sports Hall

    Been inspired by the 2016 Rio Olympics and Paralympics? Why not give wheelchair basketball a go, for as little as £2 per session.

  • Let's Do Leicester zumba, 7-8pm, John Foster Hall

    Zumba is open to all those that want to making exercise fun and meet new people.





23 November

  • Independent life drawing, 6-8pm, Attenborough Arts Centre

    For those wanting to improve their drawing technique or build a portfolio using a life model. This will be an opportunity to work with short poses from a nude life model without tutored supervision

  • Chinese cultural day assembly volunteer information session, 2-3pm, location TBC

    Work as part of a team to plan, create and deliver an assembly based on the Chinese New Year to children during a whole school assembly. At the information session, we are looking for project leaders for this activity.





24 November

  • Students' Union event planning training, 10-11am, Students' Union Training Room (Level -1)

    A variety of advice is given on planning, promoting and running student group events. There will also be the opportunity to network with committee members from different groups to discuss and develop ideas for making events more successful. Places must be booked beforehand.

  • Let's Do Leicester 3 on 3 basketball, 7-8pm, Digby Hall

    The basketball doorstep sessions are a great way to interact with friends and do something fun right on your doorstep.

  • PhD students: conducting your literature search, 10-11am, IT room 2, David Wilson library

    This session is designed for you to start work on an integral section of your PhD, the literature search, while receiving peer and expert support.






25 November

  • Public lecture - Leicester: a modern history, from 4.30pm, Attenborough 002

    Organised by the New History Lab, anyone with an interested in the past is welcomed for a lecture, tea and cake.

  • Welford Road Cemetery heritage preservation volunteer session, 10.30am-1pm, cemetery visitor centre

    The opportunity involves supporting Friends of Welford Road Cemetery with preserving the important heritage on display at the cemetery for the local community to enjoy.

  • Leicester Jazz House: Harry Allen Quartet, 8-10.30pm, Attenborough Arts Centre

    US tenorman Harry Allen returns to Leicester with the same swinging quartet that made the first concert such a success.





26 November

  • Arcades, from 7pm, O2 Academy

    Leicester’s latest band, Arcades, blend the psychedelic pop of Blossoms and the monster stomp of Kasabian. In other words, they’re seriously good.

  • Polaroid lifts, 10am-3pm, Attenborough Arts Centre

    Use a Polaroid camera and learn how Polaroid film works. Take your own images and lift the emulsion from the image and place onto a different surface such as watercolour paper, wood or fabric. (大家都喜欢宝丽来相机吗?在这里你可以使用宝丽来相机拍摄自己的照片哦!超带感)

  • 12 hour charity football match, 10pm 26 November-10am 27 November, Charles Wilson Sports Hall

    Support the Mental Health Awareness and Support Society as they host a twelve hour football match to raise money for charity.

  • Holocaust public lecture, 5.30-6.30pm, venue TBC
    The Stanley Burton Centre and Centre for American Studies host a joint public lecture from Dr Jacob Eder (University of Jena) on "From Burden to Special Responsibility: Germany, America, and the Universalization of the Holocaust".
  • Blossoms, from 6pm, O2 Academy

    Supporting their self-titled debut album, Blossoms embark on their most ambitious UK tour yet. Recorded at Liverpool’s Parr Street Studios, Blossoms is produced by the band’s sonic mentor, The Coral’s James Skelly, and Rich Turvey.
