2004年8月19日，A-Level 成绩出结果，各大学最后进行本科招生。

这时候很多英国媒体对于攻读degree的费用问题作了调查，The Guradian 进行了相关的报道。

Guardian 指出 Academic criteria 仍然是最重要的影响决策的因素，但是相关的费用已经成为一个非常重要的考虑因素。

在英国最大的60所学校进行的调查表明：Cardiff Manchester Salford 这三所大学的住宿费只及伦敦的大学的住宿费的一半。

剑桥大学的学生绝大多数都住在学校的宿舍里面，而Glasgow Caledonian 只能为一小部分学生提供住宿。

研究表明学生将会支付给学校23800 镑（英国学生）来攻读3年的degree 项目。有些学生肯定需要贷款。
