His Holiness the Dalai Lama will visit Liverpool John Moores University (JMU) on 27 May 2004 to accept an Honorary Fellowship. The presentation is the first engagement in the Dalai Lama's tour of the UK (27 May - 3 June 2004).
"The Dalai Lama is a remarkable role model, a true symbol of peace and the University is delighted to bestow an Honorary Fellowship upon him," says Professor Michael Brown, JMU's Vice-Chancellor.
As his vote of thanks, His Holiness will deliver a lecture on secular ethics in Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral, currently celebrating its centenary year.
The Dalai Lama's lecture is the highlight of JMU's Roscoe Citizenship Lecture series. It is also a key event in Liverpool's 'Faith in One City' programme, the second of the themed years leading up to the city's 2008 European Capital of Culture celebrati##被过滤##.
To enable as many people as possible to hear the Dalai Lama speak, the lecture will be broadcast live on the JMU website (www.jmu.ac.uk). Official photographs of the visit will also be available to download free of charge.
For security reas##被过滤##, entrance to the Cathedral on the morning of 27 May will be by ticket only. All tickets have been allocated. You are welcome to join a waiting list for tickets, should any become available.
