每年都有的 今年是这样的:
The event will officially start at 11am in Guildhall Square with the Mayor of Southampton performing the ceremony of 'dim jing'. This involves dotting the eye of the dragon. It is a symbolic ritual to bring the dragon to life, the eyes of the dragon are painted which helps to ward off evil spirits and welcomes a year of prosperity.
This will be followed be a series of Chinese cultural performances -
*Dragon and Lion dance
*Firecrackers
*Chinese folk dance
*Chinese Songs
*Martial Art display
Event Times
*11am - 12.30pm Traditional celebrations in Guildhall Square
*10am - 4pm Chinese Market (5th & 6th February)
*12.30pm - 1.15pm Parade through Southampton City Centre
Chinese Market: Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 February
The popular Chinese New Year Market which will be situated in the city centre's Above Bar Precinct 10am - 4pm. It will feature an array of stalls with Chinese food and delicacies, gifts, jewellery, arts and crafts. Plus demonstrationsof traditional chinese cooking and crafts incuding calligraphy and paper cutting.
