I am sorry that it has taken me so long to respond to you, this is a
very busy time of year in the department.
Yes, we are prepared to offer you a place for the Diploma in
English Literature. The difference between the Diploma and the MA
courses is that Diploma students end their studies in June and do
not undertake the dissertation.
You will only be permitted to upgrade to the full MA on the
recommendation of the convenor c##被过滤##ider. You will be charged the
full fee for the MA course at registration. However, if you only
undertake the Diploma, then one-third of the fee will be returned to
you.
You will receive a letter from the Graduate Admissi##被过滤## Division of
the Recruitment and Admissi##被过滤## Office which will show that you
have been made an offer for the Diploma in English Literature. This
will probably take 3-4 weeks.
Yours sincerely
Dear Miss Li
Thank you for your enquiry.
I think your friend is slightly misleading you about upgrading from PG
Diploma to MA status. Upgrading is based on the student's
performance and not on a competitive basis. The decision is based
on the student's marks for the two modules studied in semester 1 and
the recommendation of the tutors for these modules.
However, please be aware that there is the expectation that a student
wanting to upgrade from PG Diploma to MA is required to achieve a
minimum mark of 57 for each of the two modules. The marks and the
tutors' recommendati##被过滤## are discussed at the MA Exam Board at the
end of semester 1.
