Her Majesty The Queen will name Queen Mary 2 during a spectacular ceremony in Southampton on Thursday 8 January 2004. Her Majesty will be accompanied by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.
The Naming Ceremony will take place at 4 pm in a tailor-made auditorium on the dockside adjacent to the QEII terminal. The event will be a celebration of the old and new, traditional and modern.
There will be a number of magnificent and rousing performances from star guests plus The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Anthony Inglis, The Royal Choral Society and The Band of HM Royal Marines.
A son et lumière show and a spectacular firework display will bring the Ceremony to a close at 5 pm.
Unfortunately, there will [B]not be general public access to the ceremony [/B]or to the dock area on the day.
However, Cunard Line, Southampton City Council and Ocean FM, have joined forces to produce a truly memorable Queen Mary 2 experience in the city’s waterfront [B]Mayflower Park.[/B]
Ocean FM is part of Capital, the largest commercial radio group in the UK. They will be de-camping the studio to Mayflower Park along with presenters Steve Randall, who will be broadcasting his drive-time show live, and Richard Williams who will be entertaining the crowds prior to the Naming.
A live relay of [B]the Naming Ceremony will be broadcast onto a giant screen [/B]and this will then be followed by a well known ‘surprise’ act that will perform as part of the celebrati##被过滤##.
