mature student armed with a sophisticated understanding of life and society, I
am now trying to build up a business career out of my rich and colorful working
experience. In this effort, an MBA education is crucial to me. I am now applying
for acceptance into your program because I want to be trained in modern business
theories and practices so that I can realize my
dream.

As
a student, I always distinguished myself with my academic performance. China has
a pyramid-style educational system, in which one usually has to pass strict
examinati##被过滤## in order to qualify for education at a higher level. For
education at a given level, students often have to compete in the exams to enter
into a better school. Thanks to my academic strengths, I went to my city’s best
high school, where the teaching was so effective that I achieved high scoreds in
the 1985 national University Entrance Examinati##被过滤## with ease. Those scores
won me acceptance into the Shanghai-based East China Normal University, a major
cradle of teachers and professors in China.
At the university, I became
attracted to the prospect of a business career. A statistics major, I firmly
grounded myself in the basics of academic studies and research, particularly
mathematics, which I took as the basis for many other areas of studies. I found
immense pleasure in crunching the numbers. But I devoted more of my time and
energy to studying business and finance, on which I concentrated my
extracurricular readings. I believe then, as I still do, that both my future and
my country’s future would ultimately depend on how good we are in doing
business. To put my business sense into use, I presided over a sampling survey
of the middle schools in Shanghai, and published my findings in the university’s
League Journal.
When I graduated in 1990, the country’s business sector
was at its lowest ebb in years due to political turmoil, but I did not hesitate
in choosing to join a Hong Kong-run advertising company at its Shanghai office.
That testified to both my determination to have a business career and the Hong
Kong company’s appreciation of my business acumen. At the time, the company had
just started to have a presence in mainland China, and I helped them to
establish many rules of operation and made the company
profitable.
Although my association with the advertising company was cut
short by a compulsory job assignment, I persisted in pursuing my business
career. In 1992, I had to return to Hebei Province for a teaching position at a
college there, due to some peculiar regulati##被过滤## governing allocation of
human resources. While I was fulfilling my teaching obligati##被过滤##, I doubled
as a c##被过滤##ultant for a private business. Under my advice and guidance, the
business grew from a small restaurant into a big one in only one
year.
Seeking a bigger stage to exercise my talent, I passed yet another
set of challenging exams, this time to become a graduate student at the Beijing
Polytechnic University, based in the nation’s capital. At the university, I
majored in artificial intelligence. I felt that knowledge and expertise in
computer programming would be essential to any one who is to do the business of
tomorrow. While studying as a graduated student, I conducted market research and
analysis as part of a c##被过滤##ulting firm’s many projects.
My involvement
with the c##被过滤##ulting firm has continued until now, although I graduated with
my Master’s degree in 1997 and started to teach at the Polytechnic University.
Now a senior c##被过滤##ultant at the company, I have been doing many projects for
world-renowned companies such as Hewlett Packard, COMPAQ and IBM. The
information and advice that I have provided them now c##被过滤##titute an important
part of the basis on which they develop their effective markeing strategies,
particularly in the areas of distribution channels and
pricing.

MBA的申请是比较看中工作经历的，这从一些牛校的录取要求中就可以看出，一般都是要有2年的相关全职工作经验，顶尖学校甚至要有5年的经验。因此，对工作经验的描述，可以多着些笔墨，不要简单地说自己在某单位什么岗位，要说清楚你的最重要职责是什么，你做过得意的项目是什么，你从这些职责和项目里到底学到了什么、有什么启示、做了什么改进，你所做的种种在工作上的努力体现你那些优秀的品质。

First, I am fascinated by the international management science. I would like to
be trained in the latest theories and practices so that I could stand firmly on
the cutting edge of the rapid development in this field. Second, the market
research I am now involved in is pushing me to master better and more effective
methodologies. I believe these purposes can be best fulfilled when I undertake
graduate studies in a program like

I
am convinced that the theoretical frameworks and practical skills I possess can
be a good foundation for me to pursue the studies I am applying for now. In the
undergraduate and graduate studies I have undertaken so far, I was always an
outstanding student, and I have every reason to believe that I can be a good
student again in new area of studies. At my age and with my experience, I know
not only the importance of learning but also the ways to learn, since I will
head into further studies with many sophisticated questi##被过滤##. I am sure that,
