　　　　利兹大学创建于19世纪，在1904年获得皇家特许状而成为大学。利兹大学是一所以研究为主的重点院校，在校学生总数达 23000人，其中包括2200多名来自欧洲以外国家的留学生。利兹大学开设各种专业课程有工程、理学、医学、牙医、教育(包括他族语使用者英语)、法律、各种语言课程(包括普通话、奥语、日本语、阿拉伯语以及蒙古语)、工商治理与财务会计、社会科学、艺术与人文科学，以及国际与传播学等多种跨学科专业。较具特色的专业包括纺织治理与工程、矿业、运输学、食品科学，以及燃料与能源工程。虽然利兹大学的校园距离市中心不远，但是校园内各类设备应有尽有，图书馆、体育馆及学生会等主要设施均在迟尺之遥。 the university of leeds has its origins in the nineteenth century and received its own charter in 1904. it is one of the largest universities in the country and comprises seven faculties:
