Gigs: A thriving live music scene from indie, rock and thrash to mainstream, folk and blues. Venues include the Leadmill, the O2 Academy, Corporation, Plug, Sheffield Arena, Don Valley Stadium, Sheffield City Hall and the Boardwalk.
Food: T##被过滤## of places to eat to suit every budget. As well as pavement cafés and tapas bars there are the usual Indian, Chinese and Mexican restaurants plus Japanese, Cuban, Lebanese and African eateries.

We're rated 5/5 for both social life and entertainment in Virgin's 2008 Alternative Guide to Higher Education, and that's due in part to the quality of life in the city for students.

There is plenty to do and you can get a lot for your money. In fact 2008 NatWest Student Living Index showed Sheffield as having the lowest cost of living in England (out of 21 universities surveyed).
You'll find everything you need right here, and you can be in Leeds or Manchester by train in about a hour, or in London in just over two hours.
Out on the townSheffield is really geared up for student life, and is packed with pubs, bars, clubs and places to eat. Don't forget that loads of venues offer student discounts on travel, shopping, eating and entry.
