去年拿了永居，之后不断有朋友问申请手续，自己就那么拼拼凑凑把步骤写下来了。我这里例的是工作签申请永居的手续，如果有姐妹是要以配偶身价申请那要准备的材料会有所不同，但是通过下面HOME OFFICE的网站可以找到具体信息。

第一步就是要通过LIFE IN THE UK考试，24道题一定要答对18道，但应该是没问题的，因为题目比想像中简单好多！把书的第二章到第六章看个二回就行。其它同个章节都不考的。

申请表格上有HOME OFFICE 的电话，可以面签，当天就能拿回护照，但费用要950镑，如果邮寄需要三个月，但费用相对便宜750镑。
Form SET(O)
Form SET(O) is the form for many other types of settlement applicati##被过滤##. You should complete form SET(O) if you are a:
§                         work permit holder;
§                         bereaved partner;
§                         highly skilled migrant;
§                         representative of an overseas newspaper, news agency or broadcasting organisation;
§                         private servant in a diplomatic household;
§                         overseas government employee;
§                         minister of religion, missionary or member of a religious order;
§                         airport-based operational staff of an overseas-owned airline;
§                         person with United Kingdom ancestry;
§                         writer, composer or artist;
§                         person with long residence in the United Kingdom;
§                         former member of HM Forces; or
§                         person who is in the United Kingdom for other purposes or reas##被过滤## not covered by other application forms (this does not include asylum).
Documents needed:   
1/         Completed and signed SET O Application

2/         List of absences from the UK from time granted initial work permit to date ( it’s very painful! I gone through all the s##被过滤##ps in my passports and listed the dates on a spreadsheet)

3/         All passports for applicant
4/         Dependants’ passports if applicable
5/         Copy of all work permit approval letters/ work permits
6/         2 passport photos for applicant and dependants if applicable
6.         Letter from current employer stating your full details (i.e. name d.o.b and nationality, has been in continuous employment with (Full Company Name) from _____ and is still employed, confirm that all  leave taken by (full name) was approved ----- and  leave was paid,. I also confirm that ---- will continue to be employed by ----- after ------ is granted her Indefinite Leave to Remain.
7/         Last 3 months payslips
8/.        Last 3 months bank statements
9/         Test of life for applicant and spouse dependant (if applicable)
10/        Copy of current Tenancy agreement or mortgage statement (as applicable)
