Thank you for submitting your MSc application to the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh commencing September 2004. The School of Informatics has received the top rating of 5*A in the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise, the only one in the UK to do so.

In order to c##被过滤##ider your application further we require the following information:

?Details of programming languages you have a working knowledge of.

I am afraid we cannot c##被过滤##ider your IELTS score of 5.5 and that we would not put an offer out dependent upon your coming early to take English classes. The absolute minimum score we can c##被过滤##ider is 6.0 but, as competition for places is so fierce, offers tend first of all to go out to those with a higher score - along with, of course excellent grades etc. If this means you must withdraw your application please let me know.

We always receive many more applicati##被过滤## than we have places so competition is fairly severe. In exceptional cases we do make some early offers before the end of March but the majority of offers will go out during April/May. The admissi##被过滤## are on going throughout the summer, a wait list will be established in June/July then the lists totally finalised by mid-August - we will respond to every applicant but it does take this time.

For your information, overseas fees for 2004 entry are likely to be ?1,250 plus ?00 research costs. You should allow at least ?,500/?,000 for cost of living. I am afraid we cannot help you with funding from this end.
