University of Leicester ranked top in the East Midlands and 12th in UK
The University of Leicester has been ranked top in the East Midlands and 12th out of 113 universities – rising eight places from last year, in The Good University Guide published today in The Independent. This increase in eight places has moved Leicester above the universities of Aston, Royal Holloway, Edinburgh, Exeter, Bristol, Nottingham, Kings College London, Bath and Loughborough.
This respected table - the first to be published in a national newspaper in 2008, judges instituti##被过滤## on nine measures: student satisfaction, research assessment, entry standards, degree results, completion rates, job prospects, the student/staff ratio, spending on academic services, such as libraries, and spending on other facilities, such as careers and health services.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Robert Burgess, speaking ahead of the University’s major public celebration on Saturday April 26, said: “This achievement gives us great cause for celebration in our 50th Anniversary year and is a clear dem##被过滤##tration that Leicester is a high quality university that is really going places.
“We have been short listed as University of the Year for three c##被过滤##ecutive years by the national media and are in the top 200 universities in world rankings. We are determined to build upon our many successes and you will not be surprised to learn that we intend to rise even higher in all the rankings.”
