King's College London was established by King George IV in 1829 and became one of the founding colleges of the University of London. It is now a multi-faculty institution with some 17,160 students occupying a leading position in higher education in the UK and enjoying a world-wide reputation for teaching and research.

King's was established next to Somerset House on land granted in perpetuity by the Crown, and this Strand campus is still the College's main site, in the heart of London, close to the seat of Government, the City, the Royal Courts of Justice and the Inns of Court.

King's College London is the second largest School of the University of London. It was founded by Royal Charter in 1829, with the support of King George IV and the Duke of Wellington, by a distinguished group of patr##被过滤## - ecclesiastical and secular - who wished to promote a university education which encompassed both traditional and modern studies but was less radically secular than the institution that is now University College.

The work of the College opened in the session 1831-32. For a period of 70 years from its foundation the College provided instruction for young people of various ages and attainments in a Junior Department (now King's College School, Wimbledon), and in faculties of Arts, Laws, Natural Science, Medical Science, Engineering and Theology. Among the famous people who established the College's strong academic tradition in the nineteenth century were scientists Sir Charles Wheatstone, James Clerk Maxwell and Lord Lister. At the same time King's has always been at the forefront of new academic developments: it was among the first to provide education for women and to offer evening classes, and it was a pioneer of modular degrees.

By the King's College London (Transfer) Act, 1908, King's College School, the Strand School and King's College Hospital Medical School became completely independent of the parent body; the College Council retained resp##被过滤##ibility only for government of the Theological Department, whilst remaining faculties of the College and the Women's Department were incorporated in the newly rec##被过滤##tituted University of London; the Household and Social Science Department became a separate college in 1928 - since 1953, Queen Elizabeth College. On 1 April 1980 the College was disincorporated from the University of London and rec##被过滤##tituted by Royal Charter as a c##被过滤##tituent College of the University.

King's College Hospital Medical School was admitted as a School of the University in the Faculty of Medicine from 1 September 1909 and the Dental School was established in 1923. The Medical School and the College were legally reunited in September 1983. The clinical departments of the Medical School and the pre-clinical departments of the College then formed the King's College School of Medicine and Dentistry. In August 1985 King's was expanded by a merger with Queen Elizabeth and Chelsea Colleges, forming a single multi-faculty School of the University.

In August 1997 the Institute of Psychiatry merged with the College.

In 1990 King's began discussi##被过滤## with the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals (UMDS) and, following formal agreement to merge in 1992 and the King's College London Act 1997, the formal merger with UMDS took place on 1 August 1998. The merger created three new schools: the Guy's, King's and St Thomas' Schools of Medicine, of Dentistry and of Biomedical Sciences, and reconfigured part of the former School of Life, Basic Medical & Health Sciences as the new School of Health & Life Sciences. The College's other five Schools remain as Education; Humanities; Law; Physical Sciences & Engineering; and the Institute of Psychiatry.

本科入学事宜



学历认可

由于世界上存在众多教育体制和各种不同的学历资格，在入学资格表中，我们只能提供几种资格的情况供参考，即：国际中学结业证书(International Baccalaureate--IB)、欧洲中学结业证书(European Baccalaureate)和爱尔兰中学结业证书(Irish Leaving Certificate)，如果您所能提供的是其它国家承认的学历资格，申请前请与相关的入学辅导人员或院系联系来确定是否符合学院入学要求。



英语要求

学生很好的掌握英语是非常重要的入学条件。如果您第一语言不是英语，一般而言，在开始学习之前，学校会要求您提供英语能力证明。有些情况下，如学生曾在用英语教学的学校中学习，学校不再做此要求。该学院的入学通知书中会说明您是否需要提供语言能力证明。

英语课程

如果您英语不符合学院的入学要求，或希望提高语言技能，可以参加学院的英语中心开设的学术英语和学期前学习技能暑期班。

研究生入学事宜



您可以下载附有详细说明的申请表，也可以写信向感兴趣的院系索取。

少数课程的入学申请步骤比较特殊，对此，此类课程的入学要求中会有相关说明。



英语要求

掌握好英语对顺利完成学业至关重要。如果您的第一语言不是英语，一般情况下在开始课程学习之前,需要向学校提供英语语言能力证明。某些情况下，如您曾在以英语教学的学校学习，学校不再做此要求。

每个学院（也包括其要求不同于学院的系别）的最低语言要求如下：



雅思(IELTS International English Language Testing Service)：

生物化学学院、卫生与生命科学、护理与助产、自然科学与工程（不包括管理与建筑法）：6.5分。
教育、牙医、人类学、管理与医学：7.0分。
法律与建筑法：7.5分。
托福(Test of English as a Foreign Language)：

生物化学学院、卫生与生命科学、护理与助产、自然科学与工程（不包括管理与建筑法）：笔试600分，机试237分。
教育、人类学院和管理学：笔试600分，机试250分。
牙科学和医学院：笔试623分，机试263分。
法律与建筑法：笔试630分，机试267分。
学院在发给你的通知书中会说明是否需要提供英语语言能力证明。如果你尚未达到要求的水平，可以在开始研究生课程学习之前参加学院开设的学术英语课程和学期前学习技能暑期班，以提高英语，从而达到所要求的水平。有些系接受学期前学习技能课的相应测试成绩代替雅思或托福成绩作为英语能力证明。学生应该与所申请的各系商议具体要求。

学院还为希望先学习预科，然后申请英国大学研究生课程的海外学生提供为期一年的硕士预科课程(英语与学术学习预备WP)。
