工作签证与体检证明问题

我申请的glasgow大学的博后，合同已经签了。work permit正在办。这种工作签证签证容易吗？我想和妻子、孩子一起签，能够节省时间，也不需要跑两趟重庆。但high版主建议最好分开签。说得我都有些担心了。不知道一起签被拒签的可能性高吗?
另外，请问到英国体检证明要求严吗？如果没有会被拒绝入境吗？体检证明一般有有效期吗，大概多长？一般体检证明多长时间可以拿得到？我准备在昆明做体检。
我没有住宿证明，我想请那边老板写封信给我带到领事馆，说明可以帮助租房子之类的。这样对签证会有帮助吗？

The work permit itself is not very difficult to get if you have a trustworthy corporate sp##被过滤##or, but the work visa may take a while, I'm not sure what the process is like in China but I applied for my visa from british c##被过滤##ulate general in new york and it took me over 2 months to get it. (it was a postal application, no interview, no health checks etc).
