Now the reading maniacs' competition has changed

We are not going to do the price because I am very busy with my study therefor no time.

Yet, the competition is still open for people who are interested.

The virtual price is what you have learnt which has a much greater impact on you in the future.

or some people get first class which lead to a reward , scholarship ect.

keeping record of what you have read shows what you have done to improve your understanding,

you will be proud eventually.

I encourage people who are keen to join in this competition, I would like to make friends with you because we all want to make progress.

Reading Maniacs’ Competition updated

Principle:
We come to university to undertake a course, to study a course, more importantly to read a course.
Reading helps us to understand concepts better because books provides examples that implement the concepts. With better understanding, you are able to apply these concepts in the real world.
Enough reading helps you to communicate better, because you know how to explain the knowledge to other people just like the books explained to you .

Decision:
As reading is so vital, I have decided to set up a reading competition called Reading Maniacs’ Competition: competing for reading the most number of pages by the end of this academic year.

Operation:
The organisation of this competition is straight forward.
People who want to join this competition need to add the administrator’s MSN: lazyboy2006@hotmail.co.uk to make an arrangement for registration.
You need a booklet to keep track of what you will have read in a year’s time.
The format is a table as follow (example included)

Date Book Name Page range read NO. of pages read Witness signature
1/11/06 Digital Design 20--- 46 26 Bob Li

After becoming a maniac, you will be given other maniacs’ MSN.
When competition start, you pair up with one of other maniacs to start reading in the library.
You and your maniac colleague must supervise each other so that non of you cheats.
When one of you want to stop reading, then the section is ended. Then your opponent will check how many pages you have read, then fill in your booklet like the above example. You need to do the same to your opponent. You should use black ink to edit your opponent’s booklet.

Since the booklet is a very useful document, it keeps tracks of what you read, so at your own time, when you have read some pages, you can also fill the record in your booklet, but use a different colour (red ink or blue ink etc but not black).
Note that the pages you read at your own time is not counted in the competition.

Requirements for Registration:
You must make a booklet and bring the booklet to see the administrator. The administrator will sign his name on the front page.
Front page format:
Reading Maniacs’ Competition

Name:

Course:

Administrator’s signature:

Note that this is not strict, quality of your booklet is not a matter.

Eligibility:
Students that are keen and want to make a real difference such as getting good marks in the exams, improve reading ability, learn more knowledge etc…
Students who are honest and c##被过滤##ider this competition as a chance to improve themselves
What to read:
Should be about your course.
Can be a book.
Notes are also permitted.

Rules on punishment:
If cheating is discovered, the NO. of pages read will be deducted.
Non severe cheating : -100 pages
Severe cheating:-1000 pages

Flexibility:
When pages are left out without being read, for example page 1 to 23, but you left out page 7,8,9.
Then you can tell your opponent about it, he/she will write 1-6 and 10 - 23 as “page range read” and 19 as “NO. of pages read” in the booklet.

Competitive Advantage:
Working hard, make more arrangements with your maniac colleagues.
People who are not going home during holidays clearly have a lot of advantages.
People who are good at reading.
People who can concentrate better.

Hope you like it.
