Software Systems and Internet Technology - MSc

Entry requirements

   Applicants whose first language is not English should have an average IELTS score of 6.5, with at least 6 in each component. We don't accept TOEFL.

   Minimum 2:1 Honours degree in any numerate or logical discipline.

Aims
   Introduction to the specification, design and implementation of software systems.

   Designed for graduates of disciplines other than computer science, who have some experience of computer programming and wish to build on their existing knowledge.

Course content

Object-oriented Programming (Java)
Software Verification and Testing
Software Analysis and Design (UML)
Database Technology
Network and Internetwork Architectures
Java e-commerce
Intelligent Web Technologies
Concurrent and Distributed Systems
Collaborative Group Project
Individual Project (June–September) in industrial or academic environment

Teaching

Lectures,
tutorials and group work.

Students participate in a software development project supervised by an industrial software project manager.

Assessment

Formal examination and coursework (some modules are assessed by coursework only).
