What is this leaflet about?
This leaflet explains a new charge the Immigration and Nationality Directorate is introducing. The charge is for c##被过滤##idering applicati##被过滤## for leave to remain in the UK and other related work.

When will IND begin to charge for applicati##被过滤## for leave to remain in the UK?
Charging began on 1 August 2003.
What services is IND charging for?
We are charging for these applicati##被过滤##:
We will not charge those applying for leave to remain where the basis of their claim is asylum or Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Is anyone exempt from the charges?
The following are exempt from the charges:
Will European Economic Area Nationals and family members have to pay the charges?
European Economic Area Nationals and their family members do not normally need leave to remain in the United Kingdom, so charges will not normally apply to them. If they do need to apply for leave to remain, however, charges will apply. You can get more information on EEA nationals and their family members by contacting IND.
How much is IND charging for services?
Postal service
The charge is £155 if you send your application by post.
Premium service
The charge is £250 if you make your application in person. Not all applicati##被过滤## are suitable for this service.
What is the difference between the IND Postal Service and the Premium Service?
Postal service
We should deal with postal applicati##被过滤## within 13 weeks at the most from when we receive them in IND. We aim to complete 70% of postal applicati##被过滤## within 3 weeks of receiving them in IND.
Premium service
We will deal with personal callers' applicati##被过滤## on the same day, as long as the application is complete and we do not need to make further enquiries.
Does IND Premium Service guarantee me a decision on the day?
It will not always be possible to deal with your application on the same day.
This may be for the following reas##被过滤##:
·; we do not receive all the documents we need with your application;
·; we need to interview you; or
·; your application is particularly complex.
